That a GT350 will consume as much oil (up to a quart every 500 miles!!) as a 997.1 that needs an engine rebuild...and that Ford says this is okay.

To be fair a Subaru does this with 2.5 liters of displacement and about 170 HP, while the GT 350 does this with 5.2 liters of displacement and 562 HP. Subaru FTW!

Get Jean Todt in here, we need some oil burning regulations.

Flat plane Ferrari V8's do the same. I think 1+ liter every 1000km per the manual. #flatplanedrain

Out the four massive tailpipes along with the rest of the burn off hydrocarbons.

this. you’ll also see oil consumption complaints on BMW M-cars and a lot of other really-high-performance engines. when you go for such high specific output, reducing the ring pressure helps but it also reduces the ability of the rings to “scrape” oil off of the cylinder walls. also if you’re running at higher RPM, engine braking through a closed throttle (thus high intake manifold vacuum) can pull oil into the cylinder.
I mean, this is like brakes. Brakes can be high performance, long lived, low dust, or low noise. You usually only get to pick two of those characteristics. Maybe three if you bring enough money.

Actually, put in that context, Mustang FTW. Because if that’s the comparison you’re making then presumably a Subaru of the same displacement would use twice as much oil. Or thee times if it’s the HP production that counts

All that oil’s just part of the tune. I hope the gt350 comes stock with an oil catch can.

Do the cats burn up all that residue? or does the oil foul the cats.

I never tried to feed cats oil.....just milk and cat food, I assume oil would be bad for the cats.

Yeah, but the last 2 long term M3s they had consumed a total of 3 quarts over 80,000 miles. The e92 ate 2 qts, the f80 ate just 1.

my 236k M54B30 ate 1 qt every 3k or so(most of it was coming out of the oil pan gasket that I really didn’t want to fix). Right up until it decided it’s connecting rods needed a walk(not oil related). The new engine eats 1 qt every 10k, but it’s only at 90k miles.
